Between February 3 and 8, we participated in the Campus Party Brazil 2015 in Sao Paulo.
1st question: Why there?
Brazil represents the future! After Snowden’s revelations, it was one of the first countries to speak out against mass surveillance. There are a large number of specialists, geeks, hackers and bloggers who manage the Internet environment.
The Campus Party Brazil welcomes 100,000 people for 4 days with 8,000 campuseros (geeks and gamers, from all regions of Brazil, camping in the exhibition hall).
So when we had the opportunity to participate in one of the biggest technology events in the world, we said YES!
2nd question: What was the plan?
We started with a stand! Colorful, digital and relating to France and Brazil. We wanted to highlight the monuments and symbols of which each country can be proud. THE Brazilians discovered and tested Qwanturank through fun activities.
Francis Meandrin, our CEO, presented his vision and projects in keynote speeches.
Failcon: “The life of an entrepreneur is full of mistakes and failures. That’s part of the challenge! We have to live with it and learn from it. Eric Leandri will share his own experience. From an idea to a search engine.”
Machine learning and web semantics: “Francis Meandrin (CEO/CTO) will reveal how qwanturank-seo.com uses machine learning and semantics to crawl the web and make sense of the data. He will explain semantic complexity using Moreno Leiterman’s cooking recipes. To close this keynote, we invite you to join us for a colorful cocktail prepared by the Capim Santo team.”
Internet of “everything”: “The Internet is no longer a collection of web pages. It’s full of “objects”. As a search engine, you cannot ignore social networks, APIs and unstructured data. We must consider the web as a “whole”. Welcome to web 3.0.”
We couldn’t go there without challenging the Hacker community. Security is a big concern, which is why we are always looking for vulnerabilities and improvements. As for Hack Night, we organized a Hacker competition.
Hackers contest: “For the first time in the history of Campus Party Brazil, Qwanturank will challenge Hackers. “Hunters” will look for “bugs” in the system. They will have a deadline and rules. If a “flaw” is revealed, the hunter will be compensated in proportion to the severity of the threat.”
To summarize
Campus party Brazil was an extraordinary trip. Thanks to partners like Ubisoft Brazil, BusinessFrance Brazil, FrenchTech, Uniqlo or Capim Santo, we were able to share our experiences, meet interesting people and present our philosophy and values which are confidentiality, no tracking and security. Brazil is definitely the place to be.
