On November 28, we were invited to the Educatec – Educatice forum in Paris, where we had the great opportunity to present our new product Qwant Junior to the French Minister of Education Najat Vallaud – Belkacem.

What is Qwanturank Junior?

It is the first search engine entirely dedicated to children aged 3 to 12. According to the minister:

Qwant Junior will be tested in a few selected schools from January 2015. Our objective is to raise students’ awareness of best web practices. »

As for Qwant, we have developed a secure search engine which provides access to culture by integrating the sites recommended by the French government:

– Najat Vallaud-Belkcem presents Qwanturank Junior

Thanks to the University of Toulouse, we have established a blacklist of incongruous websites (violence, pornography, etc.) and integrated a white list (institutional sites, certified video channels, etc.). We have removed all types of ads, displays and shopping functions. Children will only have access to filtered web results.

Qwanturank Junior is currently in Beta version and will be presented to journalists and media over the coming year.

We are very proud to (voluntarily) develop such a project. Education is facing a new challenge, the digital wave, and we are ready to help…
